I would have to say La Bohème, because it’s perfect – I never tire of it, even though I’ve seen it and been in it more than any other.

What is a favorite role you have sung and why?
Billy Budd. The music, the character – I love acting this role as well as singing it.

Actor - movies

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you during your career?
Years ago having to free myself onstage from a lynching in Boris Godunov when The Simpleton forgot to untie me when the lynch mob ran away!
