Where do you currently reside?
Clifton (Cincinnati, Ohio).
What is your favorite opera and why?
Carmen, because of its very real portrayal of everyday people in difficult circumstances.
What is a favorite role you have sung and why?
Valmont because of the enormous drastic challenge he presents.
Where did you make your professional debut?
I will make it in Cincinnati this summer.
Do you have professional recordings or DVDs?
Five recordings with the male vocal chamber ensemble, Cantus.
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you during your career?
I was playing Papakeewo in An American Magic Flute for Portland Opera's outreach program. The children were encouraged to help Papakeewo remember to use his magic bells. Overheard during a performance, said by a first grader: "USE YOUR BELLS!!" Then to his neighbor: "He's SO stupid!" It took me a while to get it back together.
Are there other jobs you have had in addition to singing?
I make the programs for concerts at CCM and I scooped ice cream at Baskin-Robbins.
If you weren't an opera singer, what would be your dream job?
To start and run my own opera company.
Do you sing other styles of music besides opera?
Concert and recital repertoire.
What are your hobbies?
Reading, baseball fandom, and I hope to learn to play the ukulele.
What is your greatest achievement?
American Portraits Recital with pianist Jennifer McGuire in October 2007 at CCM.
What is something few people know about you?
Pretty much my favorite movie is the A&E Pride and Prejudice. This should probably remain something few people know about me).
