Mark Panuccio returns to Cincinnati Opera in 2008 as Edgardo Ravenswood in Lucia di Lammermoor (Lucie de Lammermoor). Panuccio made his Cincinnati Opera debut in 2003 as Pong in Turandot. Lyric tenor Mark T. Panuccio is praised for the "exquisite lyric beauty of his voice, dramatic expressiveness, unfailing musical sensibility and professionalism" says Opera News. He is consistently reengaged with noted companies nationwide including Cincinnati Opera, Sarasota Opera, Opera Pacific, Michigan Opera Theatre, Opera Carolina, and the Opera Company of Philadelphia, as well as internationally appearing at Il Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy for five consecutive festivals with the noted composer Gian Carlo Menotti. He is featured on the new recording of Menotti's The Saint of Bleecker Street under the baton of Richard Hickox on the Chandos Label. Most recently in the 2006-2007 Season, he performed Mao Tse-tung in John Adams' Nixon in China with Cincinnati Opera, Cavaradossi in Tosca in Philadelphia, Remendado in Carmen with Opera Pacific, Dr. Caius in Falstaff with Opera Company of Philadelphia, concert performances of Verdi's Requiem with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, tenor soloist in Carmina Burana with the Nashville Symphony, Britten's Nocturne with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, and a solo recital presented by Cincinnati Opera celebrating Italian song. Praising his recital performance, the Cincinnati Enquirer said, "From a roar to a wisp of a tone, Mark Panuccio's voice has a fullness and focus, a startling presence, and a compelling communicative power that electrifies the audience." In the 2007-2008 Season, Mr. Panuccio performs Edgard in Lucie de Lammermoor with Cincinnati Opera, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor with Arizona Opera, Raganeau in David DiChiera and Bernard Uzan's new opera Cyrano with Opera Company of Philadelphia, Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with the Honolulu Symphony, Verdi's Requiem with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Carmina Burana with the Cincinnati Ballet, the Cincinnati Opera Annual Gala, and an Italian aria concert with the Pasadena Pops Orchestra. He recently performed the role of Casey in the world premiere of Margaret Garner by Richard Danilepour with Michigan Opera Theatre, Cincinnati Opera, Opera Company of Philadelphia and Opera Carolina, and Cavaradossi in Tosca (cover) with Cincinnati Opera. Other roles in his expansive and diverse repertoire include Rodolfo in La bohème, Don José in Carmen, Avito in L'amore dei tre re, The Prince in Dvo_ák's Rusalka, Judge Danforth in The Crucible, Cavaradossi in Tosca, Mao Tse-tung in John Adams' Nixon in China and Harlequin in The Emperor of Atlantis. As a specialist in bel canto opera, his repertoire also includes Pollione in Norma, Cavaliere Belfiore in Il viaggio a Reims, Aménophis in Rossini's Moise et Pharaon, and Arturo in La straniera. Comic roles include Nemorino in L'elisir d'amore, Ernesto in Don Pasquale, and Count Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia, The Beadle in Sweeney Todd and Sid El Kar in The Desert Song. A favorite in Benjamin Britten's works, the lyric tenor receives continued success in roles such as Male Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia, General Sir Philip Wingrave/Narrator in Owen Wingrave, and the title role in Albert Herring. Frequent concert performances include the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Nashville Symphony, Greensboro Symphony, Cincinnati May Festival, Choral Arts Society of Philadelphia, Sioux City Symphony, Portland Baroque Orchestra, and the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra. Concert repertoire includes Britten's War Requiem, Saint Nicolas, and The Company of Heaven, Verdi's Requiem, Beethoven's Symphony No.9, J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion and St. John Passion, Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Creation and Mass in Time of War, Mendelssohn's Elijah and Orff's Carmina Burana. Mr. Panuccio has collaborated with noted conductors such as Klaus Arp, Giordano Bellincampi, Luis Biava, James Conlon, Stéphane DenPve, Victor DeRenzi, Joseph Flummerfelt, Marc Gibson, Alan Harler, Richard Hickox, Karen Keltner, Stefan Lano, Christopher Larkin, Steven Lord, Steven Mercurio, Donald Nally, Emmanuel Plasson, Robert Porco, John Morris Russell, Brian Salesky, Alessandro Siciliani, Robin Stamper, Patrick Summers, Martin Wright, Marco Zembelli, Xian Zhang and Christopher Zimmerman.
