Artistic Coordinator

Cincinnati Opera, the oldest summer opera festival in the United States, seeks an individual to fill the position of Artistic Coordinator.  The Artistic Coordinator reports to the Director of Artistic Operations but works wilt all members of the Artistic and Production Departments.

Primary duties include but are not limited to:

  • As company manager coordinate housing, air travel, car rental, and hospitality for any visiting artists or production staff.
  • Coordinate all logistics for auditions in Cincinnati or out of town including processing all applications, maintaining database, and supervising auditions.
  • Research, collect information, process and monitor all work visas for international artists to the USCIS for approval.
  • Maintain all countersigned agreements and collect all necessary information including tax, passport/visa, costume measurements, etc. from artists management.
  • Manage AGMA chorus including auditions, letters of intent, scheduling, music distribution, AGMA membership information and weekly payroll to finance department.
  • General accounting functions including check requests, purchase orders and monthly reconciling.
  • General clerical duties for department.


An entry level position within this small company, the ideal candidate would enjoy working with people in an ever-changing environment, solving problems, and able to prioritize and track multiple deadlines and projects.  Previous work in non-profit and especially the arts is preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, comfort with the Internet and a valid driver’s license is required.

2011 Young Artist and 2011-2012 Education Tour Combined Auditions

Cincinnati, OH on October 16, 17, 18, 19, & 20, 2010

2011 Young Artist: Young Artist positions are specifically for young, up-and-coming singers who wish to gain professional experience and exposure in the opera industry.  Young artists will be engaged as Choristers in Cincinnati Opera’s 2011 Summer Festival productions. In addition to their chorus duties, Young Artists will perform at variou­s donor / patron­ events and programs during the season, and may also be engaged to cover principal roles in rehearsals or perform com­primario roles in main stage performances. Young Artists have the opportunity to work with distinguished professionals in the field as well experienced staff members to build and enhance repertoire through private coachings.  Rehearsals for the 2011 Summer Festival Season will begin mid-May (exact start dates TBD) and run through late July. 2011 - 2012 Education Touring Programs: Singers will be engaged on a “per tour” basis (Spring 2011, Fall 2011, Winter 2012) and will perform a variety of community programs designed to inspire opera lovers of all ages and experience levels. 

Auditions are by invitation through an application process. 
Not all applicants will receive an audition.

Applicants who receive an audition are also eligible for positions in the 2011 Summer Festival Chorus.

Cincinnati Opera announces auditions for the 2011 Summer Festival Chorus.
 
Auditions for the 2011 Cincinnati Opera Summber Festival Chorus will run concurrently on the same dates as the Young Artist / Education Touring program auditions: October 16 - 20, 2010
 
Interested persons can call Jared Doren at (513) 768-5568, beginning Tuesday, September 7, 2010 to schedule an audition time.  (No need to submit application/fee if interested in CHORUS ONLY positions)
 
Please prepare two (2) contrasting arias in thier original language, accompanist provided.

Opera-tunities Residency Program
Cincinnati Opera is seeking highly creative teaching artists to participate in the 2010-2011 Opera-tunities Residency Program.

  • Teaching artists will guide students through a range of opera related programs designed by Cincinnati Opera.

  • Artists will include singers, composers, designers, actors, directors, and teachers. Programs include residencies, masterclasses, and workshops.

  • Positions are part-time, occasional, and paid.

Volunteer Receptionists Needed!
Cincinnati Opera is looking for volunteers to assist with front desk reception at our administrative offices. Monday Friday with flexible hours between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. We also have periodic needs for help with mailings and light clerical work.
